We decorated Happy Halloween Reading Witch Not Only Because The Broom Is Broken Shirt my mom’s house, custom made some wands, we made them theirs figuring we’d know what they’d pick, but we made a bunch, so they really did get to choose. They got to choose a beanie toy as a pet to bring, could shop for newts eyes, and other magical ingredients if they wanted. My mom dressed up and got into it, then sent them along to my gramma’s where we had food ready. And yeah that wedding idea def feels more reflective and centered on the bride & groom’s love for HP, versus pushing the theme/sorting on guests.

The house colors are basically combos of jewel tones and metallics, any of which could easily be turned into a beautiful color scheme. (Cutting a cake with a sword, any sword, deserves cool points.) At most I’d consider a lucky draw for some sort of small souvenir, completely optional. At MOST. I also went to an HP themed wedding last year. The sorting hat on the “find your table” at the entrance, Hedwig guarding the birdcage for cards. You didn’t get sorted, it was just the bride and groom colors, essentially. They cut the cake with Gryffindors sword, it was very well done I think.
